Today our group met and combined our annotated bibliography. Now we just need to figure out how we are supposed to submit it...
We are meeting next Thursday with our slideshows finished and our individual presentations ready to deliver. Our order will be Intro (Becca) then Becca, Miah, Adam, Conclusion (Adam). We will discuss what our intro and conclusion will be, combine our power points, and then pick out a day to present!

Hey group,
Hope everyone's break is going great! Becca, thanks for the updates and the link for the bibliography. Do you guys want to decide on a single slide format for the presentation? I have made mine already, and they're pretty great if I may say so myself, but I was curious as to if we want to all just conform to one style to provide a sense of fluidity throughout the PowerPoint presentation.
We can discuss this on Tuesday if you guys want but I thought it might make stuff easier if we all came into the meeting with a consistent style of slide completed. Maybe you two went over this during the meeting that I missed. If so, I'm sorry this post is wasting your time. Just a thought!
See you guys on Tuesday! I really think this presentation is going to turn out great!

Reminder!
Hey group! Hope you are enjoying your fall break, but don't forget that we are meeting on Tuesday! See my last post for what you should have completed.
Here is the link for how to create an annotaed bibliography if you lost it:

And here is what mine looks like if you would like an example! (Both of my sources came from journal articles found by Nexis Lexius academic, so if you have sources from a different kind of resource it should look a little different.)
Annotated Bibliography
Graham, Jefferson. Facebook’s a great friend to businesses; it’s great for word-of-mouth advertising with customers. USA Today. August 5, 2009. Money Section, Pg. 3B.
This article describes how facebook has become so much more than just a social network for friends for a wonderful business playing field. It describes how businesses can create pages for their businesses, how many followers they attract, and the opportunities for advertising that come up from facebook business pages. It also describes how attractive facebook is for marketers: it allows you to pick and choose who sees your add and has a unique pay-per-click payment system.
Bowser, Jacquie. Facebook gives advertisers own profiles with new ad system. Brand Republic News Releases. November 8, 2007.
This article details the different ways how facebook users see business’s ads and profile pages. It describes how people can become fans of a business’s profile and details different social ads (like if someone reviews a restaurant on facebook) users can see as well. It also includes many useful quotes from Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of facebook, on why he thinks businesses can be successful on facebook and their future on facebook.

Meeting on October 14th
Today our group meet to go over our outlines and make sure we did not have any overlap of content. Everyone's outline of their topic looked fine, so we are planning on meeting the Tuesday after Fall Break (October 26th) with our annotated bibliography completed and any slides we want to use during the presentation done. After we go over that we will come up with our intro and conclusions. That week we will practice giving our presentation, and then after that we just have to pick a date to give it!

Meeting 10/6/09
Group met today to go over the direction of our project. We decided to split up the roles as follows:
Becca: Business fan pages
Miah: Facebook marketing/advertising
Adam: Facebook pros/cons, dos/dont's compared to other social networks (will narrow down after more research is done)
Next week we will meet again and each have our outline of what we will be presenting.
Each person will be responsible for a 2 - 2 1/2 min presentation on their individual topic with a visual aid, outline, and annotated bibliography, and will help contribute to the intro and conclusion.

New sources
Hey team! I found some pretty good sources tonight. One article I found offers business users a list of Do's and Dont's for Facebook business networking and applications. It offers some really helpful tips that would be good to include in the presentation.
The other article I found is talking about how some businesses are using the option of hiring consultants to manage their facebook advertisement, networking, etc. It's full of some interesting methods and I didn't think that some companies were taking facebooking that serious. Unfortunately, the article also covers some material on Twitter and other networking routes that we probably don't need, but it definitely has some information we should really use.
See you tomorrow,
MIAH

Topics to split up
Hey guys, from my research I've been thinking about different areas of facebook we should cover.
I would be interested in covering the pages businesses could have, especially since I have one for my own business (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dazzled-Jewelry-Designs/124914129934)
I think someone should also maybe cover advertising on Facebook, it's a really neat system they have set up where you only get charged if someone clicks on your ad and you can specify the type of people who see the ad really well.
And then the third person I'm not quite as sure for. One possibility could be the drawl backs of using Facebook for business (I found two articles on this already)/ how it compares to other social networking sites. But what do you guys think, do you like the idea of having three separate topics, and if so do you like these three or do you have others in mind?

FaceBook for connecting with others
He is some interesting things I found
Facebook can be used to connect with other people in the business world. As the writer of this source said, who is a venture capitalist " the more people I knows the more deals i am exposed to . The more deal I am exposed to the more opportunities I have to help entrepreneurs to launch their company." So even if your no on their for pleasure you can start connecting with other business men who might be valuable in the future.
